Wandered a bit in Reading, but NO reading

Day 16. Friday, August 1.

3.96 Miles. 9523 Steps. Sleep Score 93.

Miller of Mansfield, Goring to Bull Inn, Sonning.

At breakfast learned that George Michael, famous musician, lived and died, just the other side of the churchyard at Mill Cottage. Went to investigate after eating.

Driver arrived and we had a nice visit returning to Pangbourne. Dropped off back at the George Hotel. Had considered going up to see the memorial and chapel for the Falkland Islands, but when the kind gentleman described how far out of town and Up a steep hill, decided to just take a photo of the sign.

Learned what yesterday I had labeled as ‘not the Thames’ is really the Pang River.

Dogs and Children are welcome inside the Bakery.

Dog in barber shop.

Dog was very sweet and friendly

Train from Pangbourne to Reading.

Victoria in Reading

1.5 hours in Reading. Found a Boots and bought 2 knee braces in hopes they will help. Also got a very tasty Jerusalem falafel at a street vendor.

Man passed on a motorized wheelchair with a ‘license plate’ which said - Ireland.

I obviously don’t have the right look for someone my age - hair/clothes/everything. Personally not a fan of ‘their look”.

Bus ride with fellow senior citizens who all seemed to know each other and chatted the entire way to the subdivisions they live in.

Sonning where tonight’s pillow is has No stores of any kind. The Bull Inn Hotel/Pub is The only place to get food or beverages (overpriced).

I was told George Clooney and his wife have a home here, next to the theater. On my short excursion trying out the new braces I found neither his home or a theater.

Met this woman as I was waiting on a bench in the cemetery. She was lonely and volunteered to take this dog for a walk each afternoon. She showed the walking stick she uses and it was covered with metal signs from many of her own walking achievements. Example - climbing to the top of Mt Snowdon in northern Wales. We chatted and on saying good bye she gave me a tight hug.

Coffee machine for morning in the room. Also tiny bottle of milk, still water and fizzy water.

No wonder the floors and walls are slightly crooked. It is OLD! Elizabeth I even visited here!
