Thames Has Water
Day 10 Hiking. July 26.
13.3 Miles. 31,992 Steps. 6 Hours.
White Hart Inn, Cricklaide to New Inn, Lechlade.
At breakfast two women were eating on the other side of the room. Hikers?
Set off for the day’s hike. Clouds and a slight breeze felt great after yesterday’s heat.

Today the tiny Thames has water in its bed.

So intently was the Thames being observed that when the eyes looked back at the trail there was a fox dashing from left to right. Too fast to have its image captured.

There are times when the Thames even at the source/start overflows. For that reason the bridges over the water are built extra high. The trekking pole is used to give a size demonstration.

Learned from yesterday to take advantage of a place to sit when it is offered, not often enough. Used the steps to a bridge for a mini break.

Took a real break away from the pack next to the Red Lion in Castle Eaton. Turned out to be the only place all day with real seats.

12th century St Mary’s in Castle Eaton.

Found this pile of tree remains and sat on one lower left to eat the croissant from breakfast with some cheese and ham also taken. Uncomfortable but it worked.

Corn is getting taller.

There is the airfield out in the pasture. It would have been fun to see it in action especially as there were sheep off at the left end.

River Thames is coming to life.

Always need to have one of these while here. I don’t really eat ice cream, but this bar tempts me.

Yes, the two breakfast women are a pair going on adventures/hikes together. They have their own logo.

Dinner spicy salad eaten with 2 spoons.

View out of the window of my tiny room.

Learned what I first thought was a fan but blew hot air, turned out to be both a cooler (sort of) and a heater (don’t want to try that out).
